Medical Doctor
The medical doctor ensures a thorough physical and mental assessment. This could mean blood tests, or a discussion of psychiatric medication already used.
The doctor is available for ongoing medical management, during the two weeks, and after discharge from Ombili.
The doctor assists in coming to a possible diagnosis and may prescribe new and/or different medication (if needed), as well as monitoring the medication.
She also presents an educational group session to the patients as part of the therapeutic programme.

SWAKOPMUND
Clinical Psychologist
The clinical psychologist offers psychotherapy in a group setting.
Group psychotherapy is an effective form of personal therapy.
This approach supports the idea that many of our beliefs and behavior are outside our conscious awareness.
The group then becomes a safe space as well as a powerful tool to promote insight; and to deepen understanding of how we relate within ourselves, and to others.

Occupational Therapist
The occupational therapist assists the client with promoting health and well-being through occupation. Occupations refer to what we engage in that gives us meaning and purpose.
The occupational therapist understands that limitation does not just affect the body and mind, but interrupts people’s whole lives. The occupational therapist therefore focuses on minimizing barriers and maximizing abilities.

Music Therapist
The music therapist helps the patient to achieve and/or maintain health using musical experiences; and the relationships that develop through them as dynamic forces of change. Techniques such as musical improvisation, vocalization, performance, composition, movement and listening are used.

Physiotherapy
The physiotherapist focuses on the mind-body connection and how stress manifests on a physical level in the body. Emotional challenges and trauma are stored in the muscles and cells of the body. This creates a chronic state of imbalance in the nervous system, that sabotages natural stress responses, contributing to depression and anxiety as well as chronic physical health conditions. Movement practices guided by the physiotherapist help patients release stress and trauma from their bodies and regulate their nervous system, and self-help tools help patients build long-term resilience to stress. Additional support with healing oils (Windhoek) and fascia release balls (Swakopmund) enhance this process.

Expressive Arts
The art facilitator uses various visual art techniques as a tool for the spontaneous expression of emotions, thoughts and experiences. The creative process is the primary focus – a ‘good’ or a ‘pleasing’ result is not the goal, and therefore, no art skills or experience are necessary.

Yoga
The yoga instructor utilizes yoga, breathwork and mindfulness in the sessions. These practices allow for harnessing of the essence of life within us all; and give the opportunity to meet experiences with compassion. It also teaches skills to regulate one’s state of being; allowing for a more peaceful life.
